Much brighter in the mornings now. If you look hard enough there are signs that winter is drawing to a close. Bitterly cold temperatures are forecast for next week but also an end to the rain. In readiness for the change in season the summer carpets are laid on the upstairs hallway. They're smaller than the winter ones but if you know how to leap on them at just the right spot and with sufficient speed they're great for rug surfing.
Bob rug surfs in masculine silence. Sophie has a different modus operandi. She scoots across the floor then lies on her back, waves her paws in the air and screams with delight. This is her patented ' I'm so happy. I'm being tortured with cattle prods ' scream. Inhibition in not a word associated with Sophie. While Sophie screams Bob naps.

Bertie is wondering if there is an optimum weight for successful rug surfing and whether it would work for a 9 kg wire-haired fox terrier.
Bertie - to ensure both 'rouching of the rug and commensurate forward momentum you need to be at least 20 kilos.

Nothing like having 400 years in hand to cut you some slack on a major task. Just horrific. Meanwhile, I love that the PONs are getting into the speed-skating mood... YAM xx
Your hallway is awesome, and even better with two pons in it.
Humans may figure skate but for the PONs rug surfing is the best Olympic sport.
For the PONs the hall is almost a good as an ice rink when the floors have just been polished !

As long as the bitter cold is only at night (as forecast), and the days are sunny and relatively warm, it's a fine February. Today the wind is wielding knives.

What a remarkable hallway. Videos would be wonderful. Cheers from Vancouver island where we just had our landscaping on our new house done and now we have a super cold snap for about 10 more days! I hope our new plants survive.
Sobering that the clean-up is from WWI..and nuclear weapons are the weapon of choice now. So good to have dogs to opt out of the world's madness now and again.
Do, please, try for a video of PON rug Skating - it will be an internet sensation! Full volume for Sophie will be needed!
